Heat Advisory and Cooling Centers

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat watch for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

These sites provide access to public buildings for area residents to relax and cool down during periods of intense summer heat. Everyone is welcome.

Free Summer Entertainment

Who: You are invited to the eleventh annual Art Festival, Art on the Lake XI
When: August 21 and 22, 10am to 3pm.
Where: Big Bear Lake, Marina Resort, 40770 Big Bear Blvd.

Why: Artists will be inside the “big white tent,” and booths will be set up on the beautiful grounds of the Marina Resort. Artwork will include a variety of mediums, including paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor, sculptures, jewelry, and photography. There will be food and drinks available, and admission to the event is free.

Free Finanical Education Workshops

Arrowhead United Way is hosting free financial education workshops to educate the public on topics such as identity theft, basic banking, credit management & repair, money management, and housing services focusing on loan modifications, foreclosures & how to recover.

The Gateway to Financial Literacy program is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 in cooperation with the California Department of Community Services and Development and Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County. The goal of the program is to provide workshops to educate individuals and families, so that they may become financially independent and improve their financial stability

The workshops will take place at the Norman F. Feldheym Public Library, 555 West 6th Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410, and Goodwill, 8120 Palm Lane, San Bernardino, CA 92410.
